There is a certain cool about this song that is both undefinable and very pleasant. Like some understated grandeur tempered down, almost 'refreshed' by a natural 'breathy' attitude. Here is a quite brilliant and emotional new-wavish song that could remind New Order or Cut Copy (the voice, the synths, the melancholy) ; Prefab Sprout (the elegant and detached melodic attitude) versus some very spacey, 'californian' laidback, confident and relaxed approach to sound and production (sparse percussions and guitar licks). In other words, this song could easily have been an over-the-top post-newwave anthem with a different treatment, but was in my opinion very pleasantly and elegantly balanced by this more breezy and subtle approach. Well done.
