Osaka - Uchouten / Free / Love Will Set Me Free download free

Red Parrot was a great label, consistently releasing quality releases that were always well produced and tasteful.This one however seems a little out of place on the label - compared to their other releases it is a bit of a clunker. The A side “Uchouten” is hard house influence prog - uninspiring and nowhere near the calibre of their other releases. It gets even worse with the first track on the B side “Free” which utilizes in it’s main riff that awful cringe inducing pizzicato string sound, most commonly associated with Brainbug’s “Nightmare”. This track is yet another copy cat of the tired and cheesy formula.What saves this release from being a complete write-off is the B2 track “Love Will Set Me Free”. This track was co-produced with Michael Wells (better known as Force Mass Motion) and his stamp is clearly recognizable on the track. The track has a similar sound and vibe to a lot of stuff that was coming out of Orlando in the latter half of the nineties, It has a bouncy progressive house arrangement, and samples the acappella of Linda Ray and DJ Pierre’s “Feel The Power” which, for those that remember, injects the track with a little nod to the italo house era, without stepping too far over the cheese line.
