Notes

A long time ago in the Elder household,as in many Irish homes,music was part of the fabric of everyday life.We took it for granted,not realizing how very fortunate we were.The musical influences of our parents,Mary and Alec,and our older brother,Arnold (the quintessential 'Irish Rover'),made an indelible impact on us.We dedicate these songs to their memory.

John joined the Elder clan when he married Liz.They emigrated to Alberta,Canada,where their home was also filled with music.For almost twenty years,John has been an instrument maker.After originally building a variety of musical instruments,he has,for the last several years,focused exclusively on building Celtic harps.

This recording was made sixteen years ago when Liz and John were 'home' on vacation.It was only intended as a keepsake for the family.Had we known that it would eventually be produced as a CD,we would have spent many more hours 'polishing' and recording the songs.

Our sincere thanks to Colum Sands,whose warm,relaxed manner put us at ease in the studio,making the recording session a most enjoyable experience.His expertise and encouragement have made this venture possible.
